BACKGAMMON TIPS AND TRICKS

Backgammon is a great game if you ask me. I remember playing this game with my best friends during our trips. It is simple and fascinating once you know the rules of the game. This is a game of skills and of luck. Oh come on, I’m sure you know it, is a game played by two persons with 15 checkers. There are 24 points or spaces on the game board. The checkers are moved, by players, according to the rolls of the two dice. It is a kind of race, each player tries to bring his checkers home and be the first one to bear the checkers off, before his opponent does. It’s a kind of battle, each player hits and blocks his enemy on the way to the finish line. And speaking of this exciting game, did you know that , I’m referring to all the beginners out there, you can redouble? Yes, this is true, if the other player doubles you to two, you can redouble him to four when it is your turn to roll the dice.
Another clever tip: build a blockade. What does this mean? Well, take notes, you have to place your checkers right in front of the other player’s checkers, without any gaps, to prevent his escape from your home board. You see, this is called a blockade. And if you can build a blockade from six checkers in a row, with no gaps, there is no way your opponent can escape.
This second tip, is used by many backgammon players frequently: the anchors. All you have to do in order to win is to establish some anchors or defensive points in the enemy’s home board. If you try this out you have to know that you are providing landing points in case you get hit and in the same time you’re not letting your enemy make his/her home board. Another clever thing you can do is try to place your checkers more evenly across the game board, this way you will have more flexibility to use rolls in your advantage.
In order to defeat your enemy you must always have a plan. And be constantly ready to change your plan from one roll to the next one, be in guard at all time, this way you won’t risk to be taken by surprise by your opponent. In case you must leave a shot because there is no other alternative, be sure to put your checkers where they will do the most good if they will not be hit.
Anyway if you want to be an ace at this game you must practice, if you wish to win you must learn to use clever tricks, and in case you want to have fun, well that is simple, you just have to play. I’m sure that once you start playing you won’t be able to stop. Do you want to learn more things about this game? Play with advanced players they’ll show you everything you need to know right there on the spot. Have a great game of backgammon and tones of fun!!
