The opening moves in backgammon is maybe the most important factor of the game. After using computer programs, personal skill and intuition most experts now agree on what are the best opening move for every possible combination of the dice.

All the way across with the checker on the back

The move:
Three options:
Move all the across with a back checker to the 14-point. Run a back checker to the opponent's bar-point (24/18) to bring a checker down from the mid-point. Make the 2-point.

Move a checker from the 24-point to the 15-point. Move a checker to you're the opponent's bar-point to bring a checker down from your mid-point.
